Details zum Jobangebot

Role Overview

As our Senior Embedded Linux Engineer, you own the Linux platform on our radar sensor nodes: hardware bring-up on custom PCBs, production firmware, secure OTA updates, and long-term maintenance. You work with the hardware, radar signal processing, AI, and cloud engineers, and you set the embedded software architecture as the sensor platform scales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead embedded Linux bring-up on custom ARM-based hardware platforms
  • Develop and maintain Yocto-based Linux distributions and BSPs including bootloaders, kernel configuration, device trees, and peripheral drivers
  • Design and implement secure device platforms, including secure boot, firmware signing, and robust OTA update mechanisms with rollback support
  • Design debugging, logging, and remote diagnostics infrastructure
  • Work with the team to design reproducible build environments and CI/CD pipelines for embedded software development
  • Define embedded software architecture and provide technical leadership, driving best practices and mentoring engineers as the team grows

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of hands-on embedded Linux development experience (a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is welcome, though equivalent practical experience counts just as much)
  • Strong expertise with the Yocto Project and Linux BSP development on ARM Cortex-A based systems
  • Solid C skills, plus working proficiency in at least one of Python, C++, or Rust
  • Knowledge of embedded Linux security: secure boot, firmware signing, and system hardening
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD, and reproducible software builds
  • Ability to debug hardware/software interactions using laboratory equipment

Nice to Have

  • Experience with radar systems, RF engineering, DSP, or signal processing
  • Experience with heterogeneous SoCs combining Linux and RTOS environments
  • Familiarity with FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or similar RTOS
  • Contributions to open-source projects (Linux Kernel, Yocto, U-Boot, RAUC, SWUpdate, Mender)
  • Experience mentoring engineers and growing technical teams
  • German language skills are beneficial but not required
